MedBox Clinical
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 19, 2026
This privacy policy explains how MedBox Clinical (“MedBox” or the “App”) handles and protects user information. MedBox is an offline-first clinical reference and decision-support toolkit designed for healthcare professionals.
At a glance: MedBox does not require an account or provide MedBox cloud sync. Tools, workspace values, and notes created by users are primarily stored on-device. The free version uses Google Mobile Ads, while the optional Premium upgrade is processed through Google Play.
1. Scope
This policy applies to the MedBox Clinical Android application with package name com.yuchunlab.medbox and this official website. Information handled through Google Play, Google Mobile Ads, your device operating system, or other third-party services may also be governed by those parties’ own privacy policies.
2. Information stored on your device
To provide offline functionality, MedBox stores the following types of information on your device:
- Custom clinical tools and their names, descriptions, formulas, criteria, decision nodes, references, categories, tags, and translations.
- Case workspace labels, selected tools, input fields, vital signs, history, examination findings, medications, laboratory values, calculation results, task items, and free-text notes.
- Favorites, recent activity, interface and content language, units, theme, and other preferences.
- Local state indicating whether Premium has been unlocked.
This information is used to provide calculations, criteria, workspaces, custom content, and preferences on the same device. MedBox currently does not upload this information to a server operated by us and does not provide cross-device cloud sync.
3. Medical and case information
MedBox is not an electronic health record, hospital information, or telemedicine system and is not designed to store personally identifiable patient information. Do not enter patient names, government identifiers, medical record numbers, full dates of birth, addresses, contact information, photographs, or other information that directly or indirectly identifies an individual.
Users are responsible for complying with applicable privacy laws, medical ethics, professional duties, and institutional policies, as well as for device security, backups, and the content they enter.
4. Accounts and cloud services
Core MedBox features do not require a MedBox account. MedBox currently provides no sign-in, MedBox cloud storage, user-to-user sharing, or remote case database. We do not require a name, email address, phone number, or social account to use core features.
5. Advertising services
The free version may use Google Mobile Ads (Google AdMob) to display banner ads. Under their policies, Google and its advertising partners may process advertising identifiers, IP addresses, device and app information, approximate location, ad impressions and interactions, diagnostics, and other information required for ad delivery, frequency control, fraud prevention, debugging, and performance measurement.
This information is processed by Google or its partners rather than stored on a MedBox-operated server. Available advertising personalization and privacy controls depend on your region, device settings, and the options Google provides. After Premium is unlocked, MedBox stops loading and displaying ads in the App.
For more information, see the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses advertising technologies.
6. Google Play purchases
MedBox offers an optional one-time Premium purchase that removes ads and lifts certain usage limits. Payments, refunds, and payment account information are handled by Google Play under its policies. MedBox does not receive or store full credit card or bank account details.
To display products, complete or restore purchases, and determine whether Premium is unlocked, the App communicates with Google Play Billing and may process product identifiers, purchase status, and information needed for transaction validation on the device.
7. Device permissions and network access
The Android version uses internet, network-state, and Google Play billing permissions to provide advertising and purchase features. MedBox currently does not request notification, location, camera, microphone, contacts, or call-log permissions and does not provide push notifications. Core clinical tools work without a network connection, while ads, product details, purchases, and purchase restoration require network access.
9. Retention and deletion
On-device information is generally retained until the user deletes it. You can:
- Delete individual workspaces, custom tools, or related content within MedBox.
- Clear MedBox app data through Android system settings.
- Uninstall MedBox to remove data stored by the App on that device.
Device backups, Google Play records, and information processed by Google advertising services may be retained by those services under their own policies and must be managed through their settings or support channels. Because MedBox currently has no user accounts or developer-operated cloud database, we generally have no workspace data that can be located by email or remotely deleted.
10. Security
We use reasonable efforts to maintain the security of the App and website. However, no device, storage method, or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We recommend using a device lock, installing operating system updates, protecting backups, and avoiding sensitive information on shared or unsecured devices.
11. Children’s privacy
MedBox is a clinical tool for healthcare professionals and is not designed for children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through MedBox. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information through the App.
12. Medical disclaimer
MedBox is a reference and decision-support aid for qualified healthcare professionals. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment and cannot replace professional judgment, independently verified clinical information, institutional protocols, appropriate specialist consultation, or emergency medical services. Users must independently verify all inputs, outputs, units, references, contraindications, and recommendations before use in practice.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when App features, third-party services, laws, or platform requirements change. The latest version will be posted under Legal & Policies in the App and on this website with a revised last-updated date; please review it periodically.
